I was thinking of moving away from the discussion of inclusion and exclusion today, but then I encountered Isaiah 45:22.
22 Let all the world look to me for salvation!
For I am God; there is no other.
Again Isaiah speaks for God, promising salvation to the whole world, not just Israel (inclusive), but identifying Israel’s God as the only God (exclusive). This claim continues in Isaiah 46:9.
9 Remember the things I have done in the past.
For I alone am God!
I am God, and there is none like me.
The claims seem quite clear in today’s reading in Isaiah. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.
