More direction from Psalm 119

Today’s readings: Ezekiel 47:1-48:35, 1 Peter 2:11-3:7, Psalm 119:49-64, Proverbs 28:12-13

It seems to me that the writer of Psalm 119 was just going about his life and serving God, much like Brother Lawrence in The Practice of the Presence of God.

59 I pondered the direction of my life,
and I turned to follow your laws.
60 I will hurry, without delay,
    to obey your commands.

He was focused on following God’s direction for his life, but in a very self-forgetting way. There are no questions about how this obedience to God would draw away from his personal agenda.

I have much to learn from this. Every day I get up with an agenda almost before my feet hit the floor. That agenda typically includes prayer and Bible reading, but it also includes all the things I want to get done. How can I change my approach? I’m not sure and it’s too early today for me to figure this one out.
